I'm a Florida Girl, originally from Woodhaven in Queens, New York. I live in New Port Richey with my husband of a million years (well, since high school) and our high school/middle school aged children.

Although I've always considered myself a writer, for many years other priorities took precedence -- raising a family plus working outside the home. Time was always precious being a working girl, going to grad school at night, changing diapers and --- well, all the things most families know about all too well.

I guess for the past decade or so, I became so entrenched in survival of the American Dream (the big house and some grownup toys), I was spending an inordinate number of hours each day working at the job. Or talking about it. Or worrying about it. I woke up one day and said, "Ohmahgawd, I'm going to be 40! What am I doing?"

I was impassioned to write HER BACKYARD as a creative outlet for all the pains I've known (that which I know so many other women share) in trying to balance work and family. I certainly had enough material that I could build from. I've lived it.

To me, writing is spiritual and when you build characters who you know intimately, I've found that the characters lead you through the plot you've outlined. There is a feeling of loss when an author finishes a book. I had heard that said before and now I know. When I finished writing the story of Audrey Beane, I had to start a new book immediately. Now that I am HERE - writing - I shall continue to write.

HER BACKYARD is my first published work. Since completing the story, my life took a turn that parallels my character’s journey, almost prophetically. I was laid off of work for the first time ever. Facing unemployment and losing my large home has made me reassess my dreams. I am choosing a simpler path, now working from a home office doing real estate and writing. The money isn’t what it used to be, but I think given time to the new adjustment, I’m going to be in a happy place where I’ve always longed to be.
